Derby College Group (DCG) are looking for an enthusiastic Teacher to join our excellent Level 3 Animal Care department at Broomfield Hall.

You will be required to deliver high quality, inspirational teaching which encourages learners to reach their full potential, promoting progression on to higher level courses or preparing them for careers working with animals.

As part of the Animal Care team, you will be required to participate in the resourcing and preparation of the course delivery and assessment, undertake course administration and internal quality assurance. You will be involved in student progress and achievement including setting and reviewing of academic targets with learners and providing pastoral support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in small animal care and related management of small collections and businesses. You will have the ability to multitask and adapt to a fast-paced environment.

You will take an active part in course related trips and visits, recruitment of learners, open days and information evenings and supporting the work experience that learners undertake as part of their course as well as ensuring that all college and awarding body standards are met. You will also be involved in the transition from the current level 3 qualification to the new T-levels in animal management in the next academic year.

About you

The successful candidate will have proven experience of providing outstanding support for learners and be flexible, self-motivated and dedicated to student achievement and quality. Up to date knowledge and experience of animal husbandry including the handling, feeding and behaviour of animals is essential. Experience of teaching and delivering C&G Technical in Animal Management at Level 3 is desirable and up-to-date industry CPD and experience is a requirement.
